AndersonE 005 240x240Nothing matters more to you than your family law problems. Whether you require a cohabitation, marriage or separation agreement, Ellen can help. She deals with child support, spousal support, divorce, custody and access issues. Ellen is a qualified Collaborative Family Law Lawyer and serves on the Board of Collaborative Practice Simcoe County. Ellen is a member of FDRIO: Family Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario (, a multidisciplinary group of professionals committed to resolving family and other family-related disputes (such as business succession or estate disputes) outside the court system whenever it’s possible to do so. She will work hard to settle your case in a non-adversarial manner through negotiation, but has no hesitation in taking high-conflict matters to court if necessary on either a full representation or a limited scope retainer basis.

In the civil litigation area, Ellen handles employment law, wrongful dismissal, constructive dismissal claims and human rights complaints. Ellen is familiar with many other civil law issues, including estate litigation and property law disputes. Ellen can help you with your real estate transactions too: including sales, purchases and refinancing.

In 2000, Ellen published the authorized biography of Bertha Wilson, who was the first woman judge to be appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada; the biography is an edited version of Ellen's thesis for her doctorate in law. In her previous careers, Ellen taught art history, literature and international tourism at Georgian College for some 12 years and then spent many years at home raising two children before graduating from UofT law school. Ellen, a partner with Anderson Adams, articled with the firm and returned as an associate after she was called to the bar in 1998.
