Vanessa Jocelyn Playtis, B.A. (Hons.), J.D.
Location: Innisfil, Ontario, Canada
Vanessa Jocelyn Playtis grew up in the small historic town of Amherstburg, so she feels right at home in Stroud and Barrie. She completed both her undergraduate degree and her J.D. at University of Windsor, working at part time jobs to help fund her studies while gaining practical business experience.
With well rounded articling experience and exposure to many kinds of law at her previous Toronto law firm, Vanessa discovered she most enjoys solicitor’s work: real estate, business and estate planning. That’s her focus at Anderson Adams, where she joined us in May 2016. With any luck you may never need a lawyer except to prepare a will and powers of attorney, to buy or sell a house, or maybe to incorporate your business. But Vanessa understands that even this “happy law” kind of work can be stressful.
You’ll be confident in her technical legal skills and appreciate her warm, supportive manner as she answers all your questions. From buying a home to developing a subdivision, Vanessa’s focus is on handling the legal details and making the process as stress free as possible. Never stumped for long, Vanessa has that “I can figure it out” attitude which gets things done for you promptly and efficiently. Vanessa continuously strives to anticipate and to attend to her clients’ needs.
She finds support in these efforts through her membership in Business Partners in Action where she meets with real estate agents, mortgage brokers, interior designers and insurance specialists. Vanessa has also taken on a significant leadership role in the Ontario Bar Association real estate section executive. Initially serving as a “member at large”, she was invited to present at the OBA “Institute” on changes to the Residential Tenancies Act: and then in August 2018 elected as director– regional coordinator for the real estate section executive. It’s a big role, including organization of educational meetings, interacting with the court and other agencies in our region, making submissions to the section and other section executive, and ensuring that regional interests are considered and addressed.
When she’s not practicing law, Vanessa is busily connecting with our community. She loves to cook and is rapidly becoming a skilled photographer. Vanessa enjoys taking scenic photographs while she hikes throughout the trails of Simcoe County.
